Final Thoughts:

For an Italian PA’s this is quite tame. That’s not to say there isn’t any action or excitement. It’s just that it avoids anything too extreme (unless you count ripping a child’s arm off). All that’s missing is George Eastman and Anna Kanakis, a bit of nudity and some more gruesome deaths. It’s all just so laid back and relaxed, all the actors seem to be playing it as low key as possible. Even the filmmaking is at its most basic/rushed, although you can tell that the director really has tried his best with the odd interesting cross-fade and close-up. What this film really needs are a few more laughs, both intended and not. Where the film wins through is that the actors are not annoying (even the kid is surprisingly likeable), the vehicles are nice, the action is reasonable and the plot is suitably corny. If you like The New Barbarians then you should like this. It's a blatant Mad Max 2 rip-off filmed in Italy and it's almost exactly what you would expect. Fun. That’s all I ask for.

Alternative Versions:

IMDB list the Spanish version as being 20 minutes shorter, although I can’t imagine that there's 20 minutes of stuff worth cutting.

Cast and Crew Facts etc:

Luca Venantini (Tommy) is the son of Venantino Venantini (John). Venantino stared as Father Moses in The New Barbarians (therefore earning an A+). Franco Maria Salamon (can’t work out who he is here) was also in The New Barbarians, although like a lot of the people in smaller roles, his career is predominantly as a stuntman.

Editor Gianfranco Amicucci worked on: 1990: The Bronx Warriors, Bronx Warriors 2 and The New Barbarians (therefore also earning an A+).

Goffredo Unger (water truck driver) was also the assistant director.

Co-Writer Elisa Briganti and Dardano Sacchetti both worked on the scripts for Fists of Steel and 1990: The Bronx Warriors.

Luciano Pigozzi (Papillon) is an uncredited street bum in 2019: After the Fall of New York.

Originally banned in Iceland, although I’m not too sure why.

Quotes:

"Charge! Once more into the breach, mothergrabbers! Let's purloin that water!" Crazy Bull

“Blow the mothergrabber into bits and pieces” Crazy Bull

 “Old astronauts never die” Trash

Critic's reactions:

I don’t think any true critic would  acknowledge its existence.

Regular Movie Goers Scores:

Some might have a laugh but most won’t be interested.

For the PA Collector:

A fun film that you need in your PA collection. Superb original box art.

Purchase Point:

Unfortunately you will need to hunt on eBay for this one. Supposedly released in Germany on DVD as The Executor (see below). VHS is quite rare.

“It's pretty obvious that the intent was to make Alien a likeable rogue, Han Solo-style.  Unfortunately, they forgot the "likeable" part; he's deceitful, selfish, and appallingly unheroic to be the hero in this story.  How unheroic?  Let me put it this way:  By comparison, I actually liked the "smart as a tack, I can solve anything" kid.  That's how bad.”

Only in the world of Italian trash cinema would it be possible for a guy to write two movies in a year, both featuring main characters named Trash wandering around in a world gone mad, but manage to rip off two completely different mainstream movies! And there could only be one screenwriter in all of Italy able to simultaneously rip himself off, but yet be completely original by having one film feature a male Trash and one feature a female Trash! And only this man, Dardano Sacchetti, could also write three other movies in the same year!”

“That doesn't mean that it's without it's own charms though. After all, for everything it had, 'The New Barbarians' didn't have Jo-Jo the Hamster! And it didn't have mutants with melted faces dressed in garbage bags and with what can only be described as foam buckets over their heads!”

“The evil gang leader looks like a... what the hell does he look like? Try to imagine Malcolm McDowell's character in Clockwork Orange, only 30 years older, a lot fatter, and wrapped up in a brown shag-carpet toga.”

this page has dissapeared now, just a couple of days after writing.

“How can you not love a film which opens with the esoteric line,
“Fuck ‘em. Were not taking orders from an integrated circuit,”
before embanking on a massive desert car chase between two bashed up muscle-cars with spikes and metal nailed all over them.”

Countries Released:

North America, Europe, Japan. Probably more. Strangely this was originally banned in Iceland along with The New Barbarians and 2019 After the Fall of New York.

DVD Release Info:

The only available DVD is a German language version (The Executor) with very limited availability. Additionally, it's listed as 80 minutes in duration, so I would like to know what’s been cut.

Actual Budget/Guessed Budget:

I’m guessing well under half a million pounds. Most of the props are probably straight from the previous Italian PA.
