Post-Apocalyptic movies in Turkey   PA Films Made in Turkey: Cover Scans: |
 Metin Demirhan is an author from Istanbul and is currently working on a non-fiction book documenting apocalyptic films, to be titled Cinema Apocalypsis (KIYAMET SİNEMASI). It is unlikely to be translated to English but I will be keeping an eye on its progress and will try and help Metin out if he needs any info. Metin reads our message board so maybe you guys can help too. His previous work includes Fantastic Turkish Cinema (Fantastik Türk Sineması) and Erotic Turkish Cinema (Erotik Türk Sineması) which he co-wrote with well known Italian film historian GIOVANNI SCOGNAMILLO.    Land of Doom was shot in the Peri Bacalar area of Turkey (director of photography was ORHAN KAPKI, a famous Turkish DOP and lots of extras were Turkish locals), but apart from that Turkey hasn't contributed much to the PA genre, although Metin says that The Man Who Saves The World aka Turkish Star Wars [IMDb] has some PA elements. Metin aims to remedy this with a film he has written and hopes to film in the future in Anatolia. Does anybody know of any others? Despite the lack of Turkish films this hasn't effected the popularity of the genre in the country. What follows are a bunch of great Turkish cover scans, some very similar to UK and US covers and some superbly different. All can be clicked on for a hi-res version!
